It was Llewellyn's birthday, which first and foremost meant Steven was taking the day off.

Well, technically the first thing was that a bottle was left out on the kitchen counter for Llewellyn to find which simply bore a note of "M" on it.

But after that was taking the day off so that Steven and Llewellyn could portal over to Steven and Marc's (and Llewellyn's now, technically) home universe for a couple of days of celebrating.

Steven and Llewellyn had checked in to their room which was complete with a welcome snack basket, but also a bouquet of red roses, a bottle of champagne, and chocolate dipped strawberries.

They then immediately headed out to go whale watching, and were lucky enough to leave with ample sightings and pictures to remember them by.

After going to their room to wash up and change - Steven into his light linen suit, just for the occasion - they then traveled to the fairgrounds where a food truck festival was being held. It was here that there would be birthday dinner. Or at least traveling from truck to truck and probably sampling every single vegan option they could find, which turned out to be many.

"Where would you like to start?" Steven asked Llewellyn.

Steven made a sad sound at the lack of contact, even as he understood and agreed with the need. He made up for it by immediately bundling Llewellyn up in his arms and kissing him when he was back. "My dearest. That was wonderful."

"Absolutely perfect," Watts agreed dreamily. "Everything I wanted."

"Good," Steven said. "You deserve the most wonderful birthday. I'm glad I could provide it for you."

There was still the tiniest bit of disappointment that circumstances had once again prevented a proper party, but in all honesty Steven had more than made up for that with everything he'd arranged.

"Well and truly spoiled me, you have," he said.

"Good," Steven said. He rubbed his hand along Llewellyn's back. "You deserve to be spoiled. You're wonderful."

"Is it selfish of me to be glad you think so?" Watts wondered.

"Not at all," Steven said. "Think it's perfectly natural to want your partner to think the world of you."

"Oh," Watts said softly. "I suppose- yes."

His relationship with Steven was so unlike any other relationship he'd had before, and occasionally things like this just really drive that home.

"I do, you know," Steven said, just so it was clear. "Think the world of you."

"As I do you," Watts said. "My rare one."

Steven moved his hand up to idly toy with Llewellyn's hair. After all they'd done Steven was in a happy, languid place where he didn't want to move much. "Lucky me. That you were born. That you came into my life. That you think of me so."

Watts let out a contented sigh at the feel of Steven's hand in his hair. "I do," he sighed. "You're so unlike anyone else I've known, and that's a good thing, a wonderful thing. I'm lucky you saw in me someone worth being with."

"I'm lucky in that me being different was something you liked," Steven replied. "Not an obstacle to cope with."

"Something I'm a little envious of," Watts admitted. "Never being alone."

"We do our best to keep you company?" Steven offered. "I know it's not precisely the same."

"And you've done wonderfully, the past few weeks in particular," Watts said. "I could not ask for a better beau, or a better friend."

"Neither could we," Steven said. He moved to kiss Llewellyn.

On his behalf of course. That one was very specific.

While Watts loved both Steven and Marc dearly, there was only one he desired kisses from, so that specificity was appreciated.

"This is- the happiest birthday I've ever had. Thank you." Not the first time today he'd expressed his appreciation for what Steven had put together, but, well. He was kind of in awe, and so the sentiment was being repeated.

Marc could maybe do Watts a firm handshake. Maybe.

"Has it been?" Steven asked. He looked proud. "Wonderful. That's all I wanted for you. Something that helped you feel special. As special as you are to me."

Would a clap on the shoulder be considered too close to hug territory?

"Of course, you make me feel special just by being with me," Watts pointed out. "So you are aware."

Marc would allow it.

"Really?" Steven smiled. "That's very kind. Thank you. I'm honored that you want to be with me."

"You wouldn't desert me for a pot roast," Watts reminded him. "In fact, you made me one."

"Perhaps I'll do it again as the weather gets colder," Steven said. "Just for you."

"I'd like that," Watts admitted shyly. "Very much."

"Something to look forward to then," Steven said. "Along with all the other things we'll do together for another year, and a year beyond that, and beyond that..."
