Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria, Wednesday Afternoon Through Late Night
Their time in Cairo had involved Steven leading Llewellyn going through every museum and site they were allowed to get into (and, thanks to Layla, a few that technically they were not). Though Steven and Llewellyn being Steven and Llewellyn meant that enjoying as much of the local food and wine as possible did not get forgotten.
There was even a dinner with Layla, where there was all sorts of mutual checking in on how things were going and no, no, no Marc on this trip. Holiday for Steven and Llewellyn, you see. Marc was letting them have alone time together.
(Layla correctly ascertained that that wasn't entirely the reason why Marc wasn't appearing. But Steven's own need to quickly change the subject made her decide she wasn't going to push. She had no desire to hurt Steven, after all. Though a look of concern was seen on her face before she could hide it.)
Also of note was her surprise that Marc and Steven had not been asked to do much for Khonshu of late. She and Taweret hadn't lacked for things to keep them busy. Though she supposed that could be due to her being located in Egypt instead of off world like they were. Regardless, everyone agreed the less heard from Khonshu the better.
They agreed while a wind blew in the background, but surely that hadn't meant anything.
On Wednesday Steven and Llewellyn left Cairo for the second half of their holiday, which was to let Llewellyn soak up as much beach and sunshine as possible in Alexandria, which was thankfully having a warm spell the entire time they were there. Funny how that worked out. Ahem.
They checked in to their hotel room, at which point Llewellyn immediately changed and went outside to sun himself like a lizard in their private garden.
Steven, of course, had immediately followed to make sure Llewellyn was appropriately covered in sunscreen.
The entire goal of this part of the trip was warmth and relaxation, so spending the day in their suite enjoying the amenities - including access to a private chef who made them any vegan dish they could want - was easy enough to do. Then of course there was more private activities that night, such as dancing together under the stars, enjoying the pool, and, well, other things.
After such a full day it was natural that the two of them would fall asleep not long after they closed their eyes for that very purpose. A deep sleep, too. Highly restful.
Unless, of course, someone got up when it happened. Got up and, as for example, took advantage of the privacy of their accommodations to sneak out without being seen by anyone, then similarly return without being seen some hours later.
This might have gone utterly undetected if not for how, when changing into the pajamas Steven had packed, there was a noise from the bedroom that sounded like Watts might be waking up.
Which was why Steven was now curled up on one of the lounge chairs outside wearing only pajama pants and clutching the matching shirt to his chest. Fast asleep.
