The appearance of freshly made latkes had caused a bit of confusion. They'd checked in with Midnight to make sure it hadn't developed a new ability - handy though that ability would have been - and determined it to be one of those Fandom things.

On the plus side they were surprisingly fresh and tasty for all that they randomly appeared. So a changing of plans for some toppings and side dishes meant this could be supper while Steven and Llewellyn tried to watch a film.

"I know it's early but perhaps a holiday film?" Steven suggested, pointing to the summary of it on the screen.

And despite the fact that Watts had been snacking on them all day, he was in no way tired of said latkes.

"If the island can get in the mood early, then why not us as well?" Watts agreed.

"Unfortunately not too many options for Hanukkah," Steven said. "Even fewer if you're hoping for a relationship like ours. I read the lead of this one is non-binary? Not in the story but still. Something?"

"And non-binary is- what it sounds like, I suppose? Neither male nor female?" Watts checked.

He'd done some research into modern concepts of gender and sexuality, but there was a lot of information out there, some of it seemingly contradictory.

"That's my understanding as well, yes," Steven said. He didn't know enough about this specific actor to say any more with certainty.

"Interesting," Watts noted. "As you say, it's something. And- a happy romance is a happy romance, no matter who's involved."

Steven grinned at Llewellyn. "Like ours?"

"Ours is a wonderfully happy romance," Watts agreed, leaning over to give Steven a slightly applesauce-flavoured kiss.

Steven chuckled as he kissed back. "Tasty in this moment as well."

"I am rather sweet on you," Watts told him.

"Other directions as well," Steven managed to say, albeit with a blush.

"Cheeky," Watts declared, though he was not denying it.

[hasaknightjob]

"Still true," Steven replied with a grin. He looked at the spread of food. "Such an odd bit of scheduling this year, all the holidays being so late."

To say nothing of how it didn't match the schedule back home, which was two years ahead of Fandom.

"And overlapping," Watts agreed, since Hanukkah went from the 25th to just past the new year.

"Be nice to do something for the residents but hard to say what, schedule being what it is," Steven said.

"Perhaps something on the Friday?" Watts mused. "That way it won't interfere with anyone celebrating Christmas, and it will be before you and I are off for our New Year's trip."

"Possibly," Steven said. "Don't know how many of them will be about. But if some are gone probably all the more reason to do something for those who have nowhere else to be."

"My thoughts exactly," Watts agreed.

"Let's keep it in mind and judge as it goes," Steven said. He looked down at the latkes and thought about how they'd celebrated in the past. "I suppose we could think of something else for the menu."

"You think people would tire of latkes after a day of them?" Watts asked, before popping another bite in his mouth.

[hasaknightjob]

"Maybe not by the time Hanukkah rolls around?" Steven said, after giving it more thought. "It is weeks away. Plenty of time to regain an appetite for them."

"People don't seem to tire of Christmas-themed treats despite them being everywhere in the weeks leading up to the holiday," Watts agreed. "And besides, there will always be those who would rather not eat food that mysteriously appears from the ether."

Llewellyn Watts was not one of those people by a long shot.

"That's true as well," Steven said. "And company is always good, isn't it? No matter what's being - "

Steven started, then corrected himself. "We can have a few options. So hopefully people will have something they can enjoy."

"What's being?" Watts echoed, curious.

[hasaknightjob]

"Served," Steven said. "If we have options that means more likelihood that there'll be something people will like."

Watts reached over to thread his fingers with Steven's, bringing their joined hands to his lips so he could press a kiss to Steven's knuckles. "Just so," he agreed. "And accounting for dietary restrictions as well."
