Oh right, it's that game today, isn't it? The squirrels are in sports jerseys if anyone is curious.

*chittering*

I'm mostly interested in the halftime show, personally. So, let's get this done so I won't be late for anything there. Over at Caritas we had Three Minute Dates! As per usual. Liliana and Ignis discussed potential coffee based cocktails and did their usual amount of flirting. Adrian also got some flirting in while discussing appropriate clothing for the event. He was also happy to see Pam there before the discussion turned to threesomes. You know, that usually happens during the interesting weeks. Lydia helped Arden out with the cold with some magic. Which feels like cheating, honestly. Gray and Arden both bemoaned the weather as well. Belle and Arden went from the topic of drinks to the topic of book titles. Which I'm sure all makes perfect sense in context.

And then there were, of course, the dates.

After those, the bar was of course open. It looks like Rey and Stark took advantage, catching up on what the other has been up to. In non-bar news, there was also a date night for Lucifer and Octavia as it seems Duke is currently an otter. That time of the year, huh? Happened to me in December.

But that's all we have. Go have fun, folks!

His tail was cold.

Whenever he ventured outside these days he wrapped it around his waist, which still felt weird, but something must have slipped in the layers he was wearing because a chill had settled into it and it was taking a bit to warm it up.

He was trying to help it along with his hands, reminded of his childhood nervous habit of worrying it.

Gregorith was once again grouchy so he'd brought fancy cocoa and baked goods for any visitors to try to make up for his surliness and extra resting stab face.

Hello, everyone!

This coming week's random event comes to you courtesy of [personal profile] throughaphase: chutes and ladders! Yes, tomorrow, Fandom's many stairs suddenly transform into slides, sending everyone tumbling downhill (or trudging doggedly back upstairs) whenever they try to traverse the island.

Then, the week after that, on Tuesday February 17th, Once More With Fandom returns after a long absence! Yep, all day, your characters - if you wish - will break out into song, original or otherwise, when emotions rise to the surface.

Enjoy!

Good morning, everyone, and it is I, Miss Lydia Bennet, here to bring you all the news of yesterday...today! That sounded better in my head. Let's get on with it, shall we?

At the school, Overcoming Obstacles watched a dog show, whilst Combat 101 learned about knives and Cupcakes of the World(s) explored the treats of Morocco.

I don't see anything from the dormitory, so we shall move on to the town, where Mr. Crocker, Miss Blake, and Mr. Morningstar enjoyed breakfast aboard the Cape Rouge before the former turned into an otter, as one does. At the Trooper Station, it seems that Detective Watts was preoccupied with something underneath his desk before being joined by Mr. Grant for luncheon. And finally, at Miss Skywalker's warehouse, she and Dean Skywalker observed the woodchucks doing a spot of ice skating, as woodchucks apparently will do.

Well, I have finished my notes, and I shall hope to see you all this evening at Caritas! Farewell!

After the buzzer had gone off for the last time, everyone was free to mingle. Maybe they'd want to gossip with their friends. Or maybe they'd met someone they hoped to get to know better. Or maybe they'd want to hang out at the bar and try to bump into someone they didn't get. Or maybe they wanted to try one of the specials (including the one Tino had added in the last fifteen minutes). Or maybe it was too cold to go out again right away. Or maybe you wanted to punch that one person now instead of during the dates. Or maybe you wanted to hear the zombie band play now. Or maybe you wanted to try to steal the glitter banner. Or...

Look what time it was! It was time to get everyone piled into the bar to make friends and/or bad decisions!

The bar was decked out for Valentine's Day, with a lot of tacky-classic red and pink decor to go along with the huge banner draped across the wall of the stage, lovingly made by the Glitter class, reading:

WELCOME TO
THREE MINUTE DATES

Everyone was free to mingle until a couple minutes before 8:00, when Kitty took to the stage.

"Good evening, everybody! And welcome to Three Minute Dates! If you're new, the rules are as such: we'll call pairs of names. You pair up, you chat, get to know each other as well as you can in three minutes, and then the bell will sound and I'll call out different sets of names, and so on, and so forth. Physical violence will get you magically transported out, don't hook up in the bathrooms, and have fun. You've got a couple minutes to still sign up if you want!"

Today the dogs were laying on the ground happily destroying Kongs in front of a huge flat screen television.

"The Westminster dog show was this past week and while it's normally not my idea of a sport," Steve said, "it's strangely addictive to watch when you get started."

"We might have taken to betting on the winner, " Tony admitted. "Feel free to join in!"

"They never love the hounds like they should," Steve muttered.

Tony patted him on the arm. "So, let's all settle in to watch."

Rey came in to find that the woodchucks had again gotten into the weather controls and had somehow made an ice rink out of a portion of the course. They were apparently figure skating.

I partially annoyed, Rey eventually decided she could make it work. "Five more minutes and then it's mine!" she called.

She was totally going to fall running on ice. Whatever, she'd done worse.

Having not slept well last night, Watts was occasionally eyeing the spot under his desk where he sometimes napped with no small amount of longing. Not actually going for it, just considering it.

It didn't help that there weren't any calls coming in today, nor even an errant bit of paperwork in need of filing.

Today, Thor had a knife, which he kept flipping in the air and catching by the handle as he spoke. "A knife is the simplest weapon to carry," he proclaimed. "They are small, portable, and in some times and places, ubiquitous, although in this time and place there are laws regarding them that you would do well to familiarize yourselves with." He didn't necessarily say you had to follow them. Just know how to break them without getting caught, okay?

"Today we will learn the basics of fighting with knives," he said, before proceeding to give a lecture on the topic, complete with appropriate demonstrations. "Please pair up, select your weapons from the handwavey assortment available, and practice."

Duke had spent most of the week working on the boats, making sure they were weathering the cold well enough, and had managed to miss the drama of Wednesday's truth telling.

He felt a little bad for that, honestly, and now that he'd confirmed that everything was properly shipshape, he set about making himself at least feel a bit better by fussing around in the galley to make breakfast.

Waffles were an obvious choice, but instead this time Duke went with toutons, made in butter rather than pork fat, with molasses and apple butter to go with them. For protein, he soft-boiled some eggs. He had water boiling for coffee, and batter prepared for hot buttered rum if Lucifer decided he'd rather have that this morning.

The result? A steamy, spice-scented galley was waiting for his partners when they decided to join him.

“Today's cupcakes come from Morocco,” Stark said. “Or they may just be inspired by Morocco I'm not entirely certain. One of the components, at least, is definitely something that is used often in Moroccan food. Something called amlu which is a little bit like peanut butter but not really. It has almonds and honey and oil and I have some here if you would like to try it outside of a cupcake.”

“I also have, of course, some already made cupcakes for you to try. There may not be enough time for getting everything done though you can always stay longer if you need. I've nowhere to be after this. So! Today's cupcakes. There's chocolate and the amlu and caramel and I think they're delicious. Now, we have already made amlu and caramel but you could always try to make those yourselves. If you like. Caramel can be tricky it's very easy to burn it and ruin it.”

"Oh! The map!" Stark pointed to said map indicating where Morocco was. "In case you were wondering."

Hello, everyone, it's Captain Steve Rogers with the news of yesterday.

Let's get started with the notes. I have several dogs to try to tire out before classes begin again. Yesterday, Liliana taught her students about green mana, Cinema Studies watched a Christmas film--ooh, which one?

*chittering*

Oh, with the castle? That's a good one. Belle decided it was better to ignore gremlin giggling, and Don confused all of us, possibly himself included, with the family tree of Norse gods.

And in town, Steven was cleaning museum exhibits, Thor talked to himself at the Devil's Nest, and the Supper Club met for burritos.

*chittering*

I am not buying you burritos.

Lydia had selected El Burrito Loco for Supper Club tonight, and sent the appropriate missives around well in advance, along with texted assurances this morning that whatever horrors had been inflicted upon them yesterday seemed to have abated and it was safe to socialize once more. Tonight she thought she was going to try nachos!

She was not going to try hot sauce. She had enough of a sense of self-preservation for that.

Welcome to Supper Club, everyone! El Burrito Loco is open!

Okay, the spirit on the barstool said, But you do understand that nine women giving birth to the same baby doesn't make sense, right?

"It doesn't have to make sense," Thor told him placidly. "It just happened."

"Okay," Don said bracingly, and then, under his breath, "Should have gotten drunk before this." Then he said, "Okay," again, and rolled up the screen covering the whiteboard to reveal a family tree. Actually, two family trees, one for the Aesir and one covering Loki's whole...situation.

"We talked before about Ymir," he said, using his walking stick to point at that name at the head of the larger, more intimidating tree, "and how his descendants, including Odin, become the gods that create the world. This is what that looks like. Here's our local friend Thor--" Ha "--over here," he said, pointing to him. "Son of Odin and--huh, they got that right." Jane if she was present would probably be confused by that aside, but Don was moving on to the other family tree. "Over here we have Loki, who is not one of the Aesir but a jötunn, also known in my universe as a frost giant. Where I'm from he was adopted by Odin, but--apparently not everywhere.

"Now, this family tree probably raises a lot of questions. Some of them, like, 'Why are Loki's kids a wolf, a sea serpent, and a horse?' I have answers for, and will cover in this class. Others, like, 'Why does Heimdall have nine mothers?' I'm at a bit of a loss for." Then he muttered under his breath, "No, I don't want to know." He was happier not knowing. "So. Ask me any questions you have about...all of this, and I'll see what I can do and what we'll have to save for another class." A beat. "This is the very simplified version, by the way." He just wanted them to know that.

Why was there a small group of gremlins giggling to themselves? Belle did not know but it was honestly adorable and they weren't causing any trouble that she could identify.

Perhaps the giggles were for trouble already caused. Or trouble that would be caused. For now they were just relatively pleasant background noise in the library.

The classroom was decorated for Christmas. No, your teachers didn't do this. No, they didn't know how it happened. But they were rolling with the punches here. It's what they did best!

"So, we have a Christmas movie for you all today," Jane said, enjoying a mystery candy cane.

"Apparently they're another of the weird rituals people have around that holiday." Cara, who very much did not come from a world with Christmas, said.

"It's fun!" Jane insisted with a grin. Like that would sway Cara somehow.

Cara was unswayed, because she was aware of the kind of movies they'd been showing in class so far. "That's one word for it."

One day they'd get her!

"So, everyone settle in for the show. It's romantic." Jane, no.

Look, at least this one didn't involve a career woman giving up her hopes and ambitions for some guy?

So apparently yesterday was one of those days, and a whole lot of people who should know better didn't decide to stay in, so for all our sakes this is the abridged version of what the squirrel's have just given me. Because I do not care about your various secret traumas.

Up at the School, The Long Con involved short change and practicing with 'funny money', Creative Writing...wrote to prompts, and Glitter! worked on the Three Minutes Dates banner. In the Library Arden was ignoring the gremlins and not ignoring Caleb.

The Dorms were quiet, while in Town, Gray strongly suggested at everyone at Over Easy also be quiet. Adrian listened to prog rock at Pick Your Poison, surprising Pamela, while a barista fight made Rey uncomfortable at the Perk, Steve and Danny stayed home and...talked, while Gregorith just hung about around town. Octavia was behind the bar at the Devil's Nest cleaning axes, which neither Lucifer nor Quinn were overly fans of.
