Steven and Llewellyn tended to have busy Saturdays regardless, let alone at this time of year. So, even though it was the weekend, they were up and dressed early in order to head out.

Or at least they were in the process of getting ready to head out. There was the matter of how, as Steven debated yet again if the shirt he was warning was too warm or not warm enough (perils of travel, that), he heard something.

He frowned and listened.

"Is that... giggling?"

Steven and Llewellyn had gone out for dinner since doing so meant that much less to clean. Back home, full of delicious pasta and all right bread (Llewellyn's was much better, in Steven's opinion), the rest of date night would be watching a movie.

Or attempting to watch. They did make good attempts.

No snacking in the living room, unfortunately, but that didn't preclude Steven getting into comfortable sweats for easier cuddling while they sat on the couch.

"What are you in the mood for?" Steven asked. He pet Raphael, who had curled up on the armrest beside him. "Comedy, perhaps?"

Marc and Llewellyn were going on a trip that weekend, so Steven wanted to enjoy a night in with Llewellyn before they left.

(Yes, Steven could always pop in on the trip as needed, but this was for Marc and Llewellyn. Steven wanted to give them their time together.)

Nothing too elaborate. But a nice home cooked meal complete with a salad, some garlic bread, and Steven's best attempt at picking a wine to go with it. For after, a simple dessert.

Steven had tried to time everything so that it would be finishing up - and hopefully have the house smelling nice, by the time Llewellyn got back from work. He probably wasn't going to get that timing exactly right, but either way he was busy in the kitchen while keeping an eye out that Raphael didn't try to abscond with any of the bread.

It was a busy day all things considered. Steven and Llewellyn went out for Chinese food for lunch, making sure to bring back some of Marc's favorite things for him to enjoy later.

Then at sundown the first night of Hanukkah began. They kept dinner simple, given the big lunch. As was typical, Steven and Llewellyn mostly took care of the observances with Marc only being glimpsed in reflections if one was paying close attention (and knew better than to indicate he'd been noticed).

Then Steven and Llewellyn retired to the living room. It wasn't terribly cold out but there was a fire going in the fireplace all the same. The nights ahead were going to be busy, so they'd decided to exchange presents that evening.

Steven put three wrapped gifts for Llewellyn down on the coffee table - two from him, one from Marc. There was also a wrapped gift for Raphael.

"Ready when you are," Steven said, once that was done.

Though there was no particular influx of coziness in their home, the concept of cozy was welcome.

Which was why date night involved Steven and Llewellyn curled up on the couch, a delivery of Italian food in front of them for dinner, and a pie cooling in the kitchen for dessert.

Also a cat curled up on Steven's lap. That was an important detail as well. Particularly as Steven had to negotiate not disturbing Raphael too much while he tried to get a forkful of his pasta.

"Again, I'm sorry you can't have any," Steven said. "It's not for cats I'm afraid."

Upon getting home from their lovely holiday, Steven and Llewellyn had been confronted with a cat who demanded to know, in the loudest meows possible, where they'd been and how were they going to make up for abandoning him so cruelly.

(He'd had a sitter, he'd been fine. It was the principle of the thing, in Raphael's opinion.)

So there was petting and treats and in general a desire to simply be home, enjoying each other and their space.

Which meant quickly dealing with luggage and then getting comfortable with all three of them on the living room couch together with delivered Greek food for dinner.

The Greek food being for Steven and Llewellyn, much to Raphael's disappointment.

"It was a good holiday, I thought," Steven said.

Llewellyn, and thus by extension Steven, were still not sleeping as well as they could. So for date night they decided to keep things simple. Get comfortable in their living room with some delivered Chinese food and at the very least aspirations of watching a movie.

Whether they made it that far remained to be seen. In the meanwhile Steven was sitting on the couch while unpacking their meal.

Well, unpacking their meal and explaining to Raphael that while he was allowed to sniff the bag he was not allowed to eat anything inside of it.

Steven would make it up to Raphael with treats later.

Steven and Llewellyn had gone over to the mainland as per usual for their Saturdays. Upon coming home, Llewellyn had done his usual of a bit of baking, then heading into the library to practice piano for a while.

Llewellyn's tendency to get lost in his playing meant that Steven had the chance to do something slightly unusual, which was to sneak into the kitchen and get going on making a nice dinner for the two of them.

It was involved and required a fair amount of juggling of tasks and time. But Steven felt he could make at least a fairly good go of it and if it wasn't completely ready by the time Llewellyn was done practicing, he knew Llewellyn wouldn't judge him for it.

At least most of them had options for keeping warm until everything was ready to serve? Also there was Raphael sitting on one of his kitty shelves keeping an eye on things. Cat supervision was very important, after all.

The only one left was Llewellyn, when he was done.

Sunday mornings were always good for being lazy. But this morning Steven was possessed of an urge to spoil Llewellyn. No particular reason, he just wanted to.

So Steven got up around the time when Raphael would normally start demanding breakfast. He quietly slipped out of bed and got dressed in sweats and a t-shirt. Then he quickly scribbled a note that he left on Llewellyn's nightstand.

In the kitchen. Back in a tick. Love you. S.

That done, Steven took his mobile and headed downstairs.

He fed Raphael, then put in an order for delivery. While he waited, he set about making tea the way he and Llewellyn liked, and prepping a tray for the food. When the food got there, Steven portioned out breakfast burritos and fruit salad, making sure Llewellyn's fruit salad had more of the fruits he liked.

That all done, Steven double checked he had everything, then carefully took the tray back upstairs.

Really one of these days they should put in a lift so Steven didn't have to worry so much about balance. But luckily nothing had spilled by the time he returned to the bedroom and looked to see if Llewellyn was awake.

It was going to be a warm day out. But that didn't affect the attractiveness of sleeping in on a Sunday morning.

Climate control meant that it was still a nice temperature for staying curled up under blankets. And if that could be done while also curling up next to the man you loved, why not take advantage of that?

All of which was to say that Steven was currently in bed, asleep, with his arms around Llewellyn.

Raphael was curled up at the foot of the bed. Because he too agreed it was nice to have a late morning sometimes. Even if that meant breakfast wasn't being served yet.

Llewellyn wasn't feeling as physically badly as he'd been, but tiredness was still the order of the day thanks to poor sleeping.

So Steven was still fussing. Plans for the day were no more complicated than spending time together in the living room. Though Steven did take time to make a treat while Raphael watched over Llewellyn.

Once the muffins were ready to eat Steven put them on a plate and the plate on a tray along with two glasses of sweetened ice tea that Steven had handwavily with permission learned how to make from Arden. That all set up, Steven carefully carried the tray to the living room to see how Llewellyn was doing.

When Steven and Llewellyn had gotten up that morning to head over to the mainland, Llewellyn was still a bit under the weather. When Llewellyn then fell asleep while halfway through attempting to button his shirt, Steven had intervened and realized that not only did Llewellyn have a headache but was also running a light fever.

Plans for the day cancelled, Steven put Llewellyn right back into bed to get some rest.

Come lunchtime, Steven wanted to do more than that. So he left Llewellyn under the watchful eye of Raphael while Steven went down into the kitchen. Steven put together some soup along with cups of tea and slices of bread for him and Llewellyn.

Steven carefully placed everything on a tray and carried it upstairs, once again thinking a lift would be handy for moments like this when he was worried about spilling.

He made it upstairs without incident though. He entered the bedroom quietly, not wanting to startle Raphael or Llewellyn if either of them were deeply asleep.

After their usual trip to the mainland, Steven and Llewellyn came back home for their other usual Saturday activities. Which was Llewellyn taking over the kitchen to get some baking done before his piano practice, and Steven occupying himself with other things.

In today's case those other things had been cuddling Raphael (Steven still wanted to make it up to him for being away last weekend, even if Raphael had long since forgiven them) and picking something out of the library to read while Llewellyn was practicing.

While doing that, though, Steven also thought to catch up on radio. Which was when he heard the mention of the reunion and - twenty years??

Steven checked his mobile. Then he checked his pocketwatch. Then he checked them both again.

We didn't lose time, Steven, Marc assured him from one of the reflections.

Which was all well and good but that didn't rule out -

Steven ran back to the kitchen to check on Llewellyn.

Steven and Llewellyn had gone over to the mainland as was their usual habit. Then back home for other usual affairs.

In Llewellyn's case that had been baking and then practicing piano. In Steven's case that had been curling up on the couch in the living room to write in his journal with the intent to perhaps move on to more creative writing later.

Which Steven had tried to do, truly. But each time he started he found himself hitting a wall. His thoughts kept coming back to the weekend, this weekend, and what it entailed.

Steven had been oblivious, actually. But things on the mainland - talking to people, store window displays, and the like - had reminded him.

Father's Day. Tomorrow.

Eventually Steven gave up. He put his notebook, pen, and glasses on the coffee table and laid down on the couch. He closed his eyes. Not because he felt tired, more he wanted to shut out the world for a bit.

Raphael came over and, perhaps sensing Steven's mood was off, curled up on his chest and started purring.

The two of them would be like that for a while. Until they were interrupted.

After Steven and Llewellyn's usual trip over to the mainland they came home for an easy Saturday afternoon. Llewellyn went to the library to practice his piano. Steven, for his part, set up dinner in the slow cooker.

Once that was done and the house began to be filled with delicious smells, Steven set himself up in the living room. He curled up on the couch with a book, happily losing track of the time. Raphael kept him company by sitting on the back of the couch and watching the fish swimming in their tank.

On the whole, Steven had no complaints. Other than the lack of his beau, of course, but that could be fixed later when Llewellyn was free.

After a week of party preparation and then cleanup and recovery after said party, it was nice to have a day dedicated to nothing too taxing.

As such, Steven and Llewellyn made their usual trip over to the mainland in the morning, returning in the afternoon. Then spent the day puttering about the house until it was time for dinner.

Dinner was delivered Greek food which was laid out on the coffee table in the living room. Steven and Llewellyn were sat on the couch, Steven tucked up against Llewellyn's side, with Raphael curled up in kitty croissant mode on the remaining seat.

"This hits the spot," Steven said. He offered up one of his stuffed grape leaves to Llewellyn. "All of it."

Though they had been homebodies last week, Llewellyn being ill meant there hadn't been much by way of romance. Which meant date night had been a bright spot on the horizon once Llewellyn started to feel better.

Steven still felt it was best to be cautious, though. So rather than going out they were spending the night in with takeaway dinner and a movie. Dinner was done, popcorn was being popped, sodas were on the table, suggested movies were queued up on the television, and Steven and Raphael were curled up on the couch.

All that was missing was Llewellyn.

After their usual time spent on the mainland, there was nothing for it but to go home and confront the task of cleaning. To be honest they should've started this a while ago but, well, things had gotten a bit busy. Trying to clean the home top to bottom from crumbs wasn't exactly a task that was easily accomplished with little ones running about.

On the plus side this year did have some advantages. The ability to use Midnight to temporarily lock things away was certainly handy. But that did still involve separating out what could be stored and what was best given to others. So they were starting there and would tackle the more labor intensive tasks after.

"Everything open we'll give to the boarding house, we're in agreement there?" Steven asked as he put en empty cardboard box onto the kitchen counter for them to start putting things in.

After a long - pleasant, but long - weekend, a quiet date night in seemed just the thing. Steven and Llewellyn ordered in Chinese and set themselves up in the comfort of the library to eat it. Nothing fancy in dress or anything else. Just them, some food, a couch, and a sleeping cat beside them.

Steven might just be sitting closer to Llewellyn than he usually would at the start of such an evening is all. Possibly a little clingy, don't mind him.

"Been in the mood for Kung Pao," Steven said, as he used his chopsticks to secure some tofu and peppers. "Can't remember the last time I had it."

Steven? Talking about unimportant things to avoid talking about actual important things? Maybe.

Regardless of what was happening around the island, Steven had needed no help to say that if there were freshly baked chocolate cupcakes on offer he would very much like some.

Which was why, after dinner, Steven had decamped to the living room with Raphael and some sodas while Llewellyn took care of the snacks. Steven settled on the couch, One seat available for Llewellyn, the other taken up by a likely soon to be napping cat, and turned on the TV to see what options were available to them for movie watching.

"All sorts of new selections, looks like," Steven called out. "Suppose from the start of the month."
