Apt #14, MHA, Monday Evening

Today was an anniversary of sorts. It was the anniversary of when Steven and Llewellyn had first met, back when Llewellyn had moved into flat #15.

At the time, Steven had invited Llewellyn over for a coffee. And thus in honor of the occasion they were getting together for coffee. Also they were going to attempt to make biscotti together, which had nothing to do with their first meeting but had sounded like a fun thing to try.

Thus, after getting back from Lana's class, they had brought over all the necessary components for baking from Llewellyn's flat, naturally also brought over Raphael to join them, put on a pot of coffee, and were ready to get started.

"Not where I pictured us a year ago," Steven said as he helped arrange ingredients on the counter. "Here I thought you were just a nice new neighbor. Which you were, of course."

“Mmm,” Watts nodded. “A few- among them an interactive science museum, an art museum, as well as one that focused on the history of Vancouver itself. But,” he smiled, “I suspect of particular interest would be the anthropological museum located at one of the universities.”

Steven wrapped his arms around Llewellyn. "They all sound fun. But yes, if we've only time for one that last one is particularly tempting."

Watts snuggled back against Steven.

“Well, we might be able to manage two if we’re efficient about it,” he admitted. “But it is only a weekend trip.”

Steven kissed the back of Llewellyn's head. "That won't do. We need something that you like doing. Is there a show, maybe?"

“I like museums,” Watts pointed out. “Perhaps? I know they’ve an orchestra out there now. I could see if there’s anything interesting that weekend.”

"And something with wine, maybe?" Steven said. Then, more shyly, "Maybe dancing?"

“Someplace public, you mean?” Watts mused.

"Or private," Steven said. "I'm not particular on location. Just that it's you."

“That much I can arrange,” Watts promised. “Whether it’s our hotel room or elsewhere, I shall gladly dance with you.”

"Could have a nice dinner in our room one night? Then dancing?" Steven asked. "I like having those kinds of nights with you."

“I’m quite partial to those myself,” Watts agreed. “For our anniversary dinner itself, I was thinking perhaps- they have ships that cruise the harbour, for a few hours- a dinner on one of those? At sunset?”

"Oh," Steven said. He tried to imagine it, smiling as he did. "That could be very nice. Sun setting on the water and all? Bet there'd be loads of opportunities for pictures."

"Precisely. Very romantic, I thought," he said.

"Very romantic," Steven agreed. He pressed a kiss to Llewellyn's ear. "I like it."

“Good, I’m glad,” Watts said. “Though I would have found something else suitable if that hadn’t appealed.”

"You're very good about that," Steven said. "Planning our holidays. You think of everything. It's another thing you do, makes me feel cared for."

“You’re pleased with the job I do, then?” Watts asked. “I try and make sure there is a balance of activities we will both enjoy. But sometimes I worry that I am- taking too much control?”

"No, you do wonderfully," Steven said. He hugged Llewellyn to help reassure him. "If you need or want help you'll tell me though? I don't want you feeling like it's got to be all on you because you like doing it. Easy enough to not like doing a thing if it feels like an obligation."

“I promise,” Watts told him. “And I always want your input. Please don’t feel like you need to go along with anything I suggest.”

"I promise I don't," Steven said. "All part of being honest with each other, isn't it? Telling you if I like a thing or not. You're just very good at coming up with things I'd like to try."

"It helps that while our interests are not identical, they do align in a number of ways," Watts pointed out.

"And there's nothing wrong with that, is there?" Steven asked. It was mostly rhetorical but there was a hint of uncertainty in his tone. "Means we're compatible."

"Absolutely nothing wrong with it, darling," Watts said firmly. "Think of it this way: if all of our interests were identical, we might never feel compelled to give new experiences a try. And if our interests were too disparate, it would be hard for us both to enjoy an activity. I believe we are rather nicely set in the middle."

Steven relaxed. "Exactly. Like with museums. We may not like the exact same parts, but we enjoy going."

"I don't know, I'm finding plenty to like about Egyptian-focused exhibits these days," Watts told him.
